Sudden unexplained illness
Illness that doctors cannot explain, especially after conflict with someone
The Defence
Eight signs the old books catalogued. Ten protections the tradition kept intact.
The Malleus Maleficarum of 1487 catalogued eight signs that the modern reader still recognises immediately. The folk and ecclesiastical traditions that followed preserved ten protective methods, continuously in use to this day. Both are presented here as historical record and as practical reference.
Diagnostic
Each sign is a pattern the Malleus catalogued and the modern reader will likely recognise from their own life. One sign may be coincidence; multiple signs at once is the tradition's threshold for action.
Illness that doctors cannot explain, especially after conflict with someone
Recurring nightmares, feeling pinned down during sleep, shadow figures
Pets avoiding certain areas, birds striking windows repeatedly
Items inexplicably lost or moved, electronics malfunctioning repeatedly
Unexpected financial disasters especially after conflict with an enemy
Sudden unexplained breakups or estrangements from loved ones
Constant feeling of surveillance, cold spots, shadows in peripheral vision
Unusual run of accidents that defy probability
Practice
Each protection is drawn from a named historical source — the Malleus, Catholic devotional practice, folk magic preserved by ethnographers, and the broader European protective tradition.
Pour unbroken line of sea salt around your home perimeter or sleeping area
Witches cannot cross cold iron. Place iron nails in corners, iron horseshoe over door, iron key under pillow
Fill bottle with nails, thorns, hair, urine; bury at property boundary or under hearth to reflect curses back
Hang stone with natural hole over bed, door, or wear around neck. Holes formed by water cannot be possessed by evil.
Hang dried rue and vervain bundles above doors and windows. Repels witchcraft and evil spirits.
Recite Psalm 91 three times at sunrise and sunset. One of the most powerful protective prayers in existence.
Write name of suspected witch on paper, place under small mirror face down, anoint with reversal oil, say reversal praye
Bind two rowan twigs with red thread into cross shape. Hang above door or wear. Most powerful anti-witch wood.
Draw or wear the Fourth Pentacle of Saturn for protection against witches and binding enemies
Burn sulfur at each corner of property while reciting protective prayers to cleanse hexes
